I'm working on beta 3.0 now. Here's what I've got planned:

• Ability to split ONLY the message you clicked split at, rather than the whole thread after that point.


• Error checking, so that it's impossible to split the thread at the first post.


• Split and merge graphics instead of text built-in

I'm going to try and release it this weekend, since I'm back to school on Wednesday. If everyone is satisfied with it, I'll move it out of its beta status.

Okay, beta 3.0 is out. Here's what's new:

• A few HTML compliancy bugs fixed
• Missing title fixed
• Error referred to moving threads, not merging/splitting them
• Individual posts can now be split from threads, leaving following posts intact
• Graphics included and used instead of basic links
• It will no longer attempt to split the thread if you choose to split on the first post (causes an error)
• The mod now checks to see when merging if both thread IDs are valid, and if not then does not continue

Missed a new feature out

My moderators sometimes previously used to merge invalid thread IDs together, resulting in lost posts or corrupt threads. Well the mod now examines the thread IDs, checking if they are both valid threads. If one or both are not, you get an error and it does not continue. Hopefully this should stop any problems

Hmm, no. Witches are not able to write such a nice tool !

After merging/spliting, it would be very helpful to have a link to the old/new topic.

I haven't had a chance to look at it, but can I use this version to select, say.... 5 posts out of a thread, and create a new thread with them?  As opposed to splitting out only one post?

No, it's not possible. You can select the 3rd of 5 posts and split the thread after the 2nd or just extract the 3rd one. Your way requires a checkbox-like interface in my eyes where you can select the posts you want to extract.

Yeah, it's not possible to selectively split posts yet, although I could add it in if it's requested enough.

Yes Mam'. It would be helpful if there would be a link to the MessageIndex and one to the new topic (in my eyes).

Beta 3.1 is out. Only new feature is the links you requested.

If you've already installed beta 3.0, just overwrite the MergeThreads.php and SplitThreads.php on your webserver with the new files in the zip.
