[Done 1.4.1] Merge/Split Threads Mod 3.5

This mod allows moderators and administrators to split a thread into two, or merge two threads together, ordered by the post date of their messages. It is very easy to install, and is useful if you have a lot of off-topic posts, or similar threads on the same subject.

Version 3.5 is out. Here's what's new:

• When splitting a thread there are now three options. Split only the post you chose, split all posts after and including the post you chose, or go to a selection screen where you can choose which posts you want to split.

Version 3.2 is out. Here's what's new:

• Mod now out of beta status

Beta 3.1 is out. Here's what's new:

• Links to threads and message index after splitting/merging threads

Beta 3.0 new features:

• A few HTML compliancy bugs fixed
• Missing title fixed
• Error referred to moving threads, not merging/splitting them
• Individual posts can now be split from threads, leaving following posts intact
• Graphics included and used instead of basic links
• It will no longer attempt to split the thread if you choose to split on the first post (causes an error)
• The mod now checks to see when merging if both thread IDs are valid, and if not then does not continue

hey mach...

I just split a thread twice... and it worked fine....

only problem was that the -1 error came up as you said

it never showed the message on the index either (about a topic being updated) but I doubt that was implimented yet...

keep it up !!

hmmm it allows for 'empty' threads...

IE threads posted by no one with no content

ok... just merged a thread...

it put it to the top? I thought it would have put it to the bottom lol...

try splitting the thread at the base ....

I did that again...

it changed the original title of the thread
"test 4 message 1" on both messages...
to test 4 split from base (the one I'd set for the 2nd thread...

and then marked it as being replied to -1 times with no content

Okay, basically it isn't designed to split at the very first post, since it splits the thread into two threads, beginning at the first post and ending at the post before where you clicked Split, and the second thread beginning where you clicked Split and ending with the last post in the old thread. So if you click the first post, it'll get confused and won't know what to do, the same applies with threads with only one post.

I'll put in a measure to not split the thread if you clicked the link on the first post.

think you should put the split/merge buttons in with the lock/move ones tho

I'll make ( or maybe someone will for me since I need sleep ) a button at the bottom for Merge and put it next to the sticky, lock buttons. However split MUST be at each post since it defines where to split from. Perhaps someone could make a split button in the style of Modify, Reply, Quote?

I cant think of an icon to make for a split thread...

any ideas?

Ooh, that's good, forgot about that site - I'll do the Y1G button set too since I have a Y1G skin users can choose on my forum.

For split, how about reversing the direction of the arrows on the merge button so they point outwards?
