Cut & Paste Character Problem

I have searched this forum, but I never found an answer or fix to this problem...if there is one.

When someone types in a message manually, everything comes out fine, but if someone posts a message by copying and pasting their text then it turns certain characters to the number codes like “ ” ’ and … I have had no other problems with posting an apostrophe or whatever those other characters are. It appears to only be when text comes from someone using c&p.

I already have the meta tag charset=iso-8859-1, if that has anything to do with it. Is there someway to fix this?

They probably are trying to cut & paste the text from Microsoft Word which uses a different text format, eg. Rich Text, and that doesn't work. They can first paste the text to lets say Notepad and from there to YaBB.

I swear this was discussed only a few days ago.  I remember replying and telling the person to do exactly what Hypocrite suggested and it worked.  Here is the other thread, found it by searching all boards for the word "paste".

There are tons of threads on these boards. I never thought to search for just the word 'paste'

what is odd though is that with yabb gold there wasnt a problem pasting from word etc

It's because of the way the data is stored etc.

dont get me wrong I'm not complaining, I love yabb se, as soon as I get a job I'll make a donation but im on the dole at the mo .
