Error in step 2

After installing several files i get this error. I have no idea what iam doing wrong. Please help.

I am also getting an error when I register a new user.

I believe your error after registration is due to sendmail/SMTP not being setup.  Disable emailing passwords and see if it works.  You need to make sure your php.ini is set up to use SMTP or sendmail for the mail() function.

I am kind of a newbie on setting up    ......... how do i go about setting up SMTP and where do i have to make the changes in php.ini.
