Really big problem with cookies

Now I have a really big problem... One of my members only has access to the internet at school, and the computers there don't allow cookies. Don't ask me why...

Is there anything to do? Is it at all possible to change the scripts so that it won't use cookies?

The member herself is a very good programmer, and she's sure that it must be a possible thing and has offered to look for a solution. But I thought i should ask here first, if it's any idea, and if I could get a clue about were to look?

Isn't ther a thing in PHP called "sessions" that you could use instead?

Or do I have to use a complete different board? I don't want to, I love my YaBB  :'(

YaBB uses cookies, plain as that.  Future versions will use sessions but this one was mostly a port.

You'd need to change solutions just for one user?

Yeah... maybe. If it was just an ordinary board with an ordinary member I'd probably just ignore it.
But it's a sort of information and change-ideas center for a project...

Well, if it's nothing to do it's nothing to do... :'(

When you say "Future versions will use sessions", do you meen it's a fact, or just an idea, not finally decided?

And can you tell how far away this is? I understand it's probably hard to tell, but do we talk about months? Years?

Because if it's not to far away I can use that as an argument to keep YaBB after all... All the other members are very satisfied with it. And so am I.

lena, it's a fact and is in use.  However, I can't say how long it will be as there are many unknown factors but I will say this...and i may get beaten for it later but it should be out before Christmas :)

Before Christmas, that's good enough:)

I'll just have to keep my eyes open at this place then.

Thanks!
