admin pass problems

well i was on my board and all of a sudden it says i have to login so i try to log in and it says password incorrect put i never changed the pass on the admin acount i try mailing myself the pass but it doesn't work why doesn't why cant i go into the ftp and change it ahhh im confused on how to get my admin acount back
