I looked around and didn't see anyone that has posted about this, so I thought I would ask...
I want my forum to be a little more secure, mainly by approving each user before they can read any of the forums. In would prefer to get an email each time a new user applies prompting me to go to the admin section and approve or deny thier application.

Has this been done already? Is it already available and I'm just blind, or is anyone working on it? Thanks for the info!

This currently can not be done.  There is a mod that only allows admins to register new member but isn't really what you are looking for.  This idea has been taken into account and it is on the lists for mod writers.
