Not Cookies? Can't stay logged in.

???

I know there's a lot of posts about this, but really no solution. I am an analyst programmer so I know the basics. Let's skip the cookies and such and try going straight to the core problem. I did a fresh install of YaBBSE and I'm getting the same problem as a lot of other people, I can't stay logged in. I've tried Macintosh systems, Windows 2000, Windows 98, cleared cache and cookies on them all and STILL have the problem. I'll try anything at this point because I'd really like to take advantage of the speed increase I am seeing over YaBB 1 Gold.

ALSO:
When I delete all cookies, the only one that shows up is 'expiretime' and not the username/password cookies. I have no problems with cookies on any other site or Yabb board. I have allow all turned on as well.

Thank you, I know you're working hard!

Lycos?
If you mean where it's hosted, it's hosted then no. I had 1.1 Gold hosted at the same place and it worked fine.

I have this problem too. I self host with Xitami webserver on a WinXP system. Install seemed to go fine but I can't stay logged in to post, reply or get to the admin control panel. It seems ok when I login until I try to actually do something - at which point I am now a guest. I tried registering with a different name as a user with the same result. I tried deleting cookies to no avail. I hope a solution to this isfound.

in any hosts (depends on the php version (too old version or safe mode) redirect works not property, so you can“t staying logged in!

btw: gold sp1 is perl (cgi) and has nothing to do with php!

I have the latest PHP and MySql installed. I run a vBulletin forum - also using PHP and MySql - and it runs ok. Any suggestions on places to look?

here's the yabbse forum - http://www.jerryjohnson.net/yabbse/index.php

and here is the vBulletin forum

http://www.jerryjohnson.net/forums/index.php

I also have installed IkonBoard and Yabb Gold SP! - both run fine and I know they are Perl scripts not PHP/MySql.

My point is I have successfully installed a few forum packages now but I have no clue where to look to solve this problem.

If it's any help there's work in progress to allow sessions in a future version?

I think you'll find the admins are as stuck as you are on this problem!

The Jerry Johnson one is strange, starts off with one domain and then changes to another...

I use www.mydomain.com and it points to jerryjohnson.homeip.net - a free dns service. I have my webserver on my dsl connection and the IP changes - usually every 2 weeks or so after a reboot. I use a dns client that checks the current IP and reports it to homeip.net and it all works. In the setup I have tried both urls  - www.jerryjohnson.net and jerryjohnson.homeip.net - and neither seems to matter.

Ok.. I tryed loging on from another computer. I still got the same result when I first tried to get to the admin. I saw mediman's post and I logged in as myself again and I could now reply to his post. After that I got to the admin panel. Mediman, when you say rename the cookie do you mean on the PC I use to access the site or change the way yabbse names the cookie?

Since I am trying quite a few forum software packages I guess that would be why the cookie name is the same? I am looking at my settings.php in my YabbSe folder and in the cookie section it looks like this:

$cookieusername = "YaBBSE130usernamev14";         # Name of the username cookie
$cookiepassword = "YaBBSE130passwordv14";         # Name of the password cookie
I am new to PHP and I am not sure what to change here. I appreciate your help and your patience.
