Too long posts result in "This page cannot be displayed"

I posted this is the other version forum but im still getting it so ill repost it here.

When i try to post a message which is too long, usually just over the box long, when i hit post it says "This page cannot be displayed" I also get this if i try to modify a post to be longer, or try to add an attachment of a text file which is too long.

Win2k pro, service pack 2.
IE 6, 128bit encryption strength.
Latest java version from ms site if that means anything.
