Advanced Groups

Now that 1.3.0 is out, i'll start to test this 90% done mod with the new sources. It was tested a lot with 1.1.0 and i'm adding some features.
It's based on matt's and dkdave beta mod, never released public, almost fixed by dkdave and reworked by me.

Some brief about Adavanced Groups 2.0beta:

+ customize membergroups (creation and layout); groups not reached with posts can change layout or not.
+ integrated exp bar mod with skins and also added the bar in IMs.
+ admins can set up to 4 additonal groups in a user profile; these groups will be considered only for access rights purpose and the user will access to all reserved cats of the groups assigned; the only public displayed group will be the principal one (the position); only setting it in the position you can give admin and global moderator rights to a user.
+ entire groups can be assigned as moderator of a board.

About installation: it will replace a lot of sources because the user system is almost totally changed and a php script will make changes in db. This mod it's so intended to be installed on fresh boards.

What do you mean?  I run a board with over 2300 users and 50,000 posts and this is the MOST IMPORTANT feature for me =)  Can we PLEASE get to use this too? =)

how about this for adding more membergroups.  You can just add a column to the member table 'groups'  then the script will locate all the membergroups from the membergroups table.  The field for groups would be an integer.  If the member is part of the group it would set a flag for it.  All the flags would be in one field though so you can add unlimited membergroups.

so if i were part of the 'cracker' membergroup and that group was the 5 group in the membergroups table, i would have the flag, 00001.  If i were an moderator and a beta tester i would be 001011.  I can explain it better with a conversation.

Already done & tested the code, i have only to install this on 1.3.0 i don't want to rewrite in any way.

Expected release date? I'm evalutating to install yabbse in place of my sp1 board, but I'd like to have at least this mod working before doing that

Will this mod also enable me to change the colors of the moderators on the forum? (like in 1.3.0 the Admin is red) because that's what I am trying to do right now...

Just checking in with you to see how it is going.  I have a brand new install of YaBBSE - sparkling clean - no mods to help test it if you wish.  Happy to help.
