the installation wont work after i uploaded it

i uploaded the nonsafe one to my account, went to install.php, and when it tells me to create the <?=$installdir?> directory, i create it, then click "Start installation" and it goes to an URL not found page. what is wrong?

I believe, (but I am no expert) you have to create the directory first, chmod it to 777, upload the 3 install files to that directory and then run it from that directory. If your install.php is not in that directory after the first step where you set the directory, it doesnt know how to find it. Now this is only my guess, as I am no expert, but try doing it that way and see if it works.

Yes try those and see if it works...also post a phpinfo here for us to look at.

I am not familiar with the chmod term, and dont know how to do it (windows 2000) hehe,  so what do i do, can someone help me?

Its not to do with your OS. what FTP client are you using?

im using ftp.hpg.com.br
With FTP Explorer.

I tried Ikonboard but couldint get it to work. i like yabb better but they have people who  will install it for you on their site. will someone here do it for me????
