i have major problems installing yabb se 1.0.0 safe-mode!!! please help!!!

so me and a friend are building a site, and he wants to have a nice customizable message board and he gives me this site and we both basically know nothing about .php, sql, mysql, blah blah blha, et cetera.  so i do everything that this site says to do and i go to install it an it says all this stuff about mysql server, username, password, et cetera.  i don't know that i have a mysql servername or anything (or how to get one if you have to sign up or something!?).  so i left it as localhost and put in the username and password that i use to gain access to my ftp server and i get this message:

Who is your host?  

You need to find out if your host has MySQL installed, and if it is...what your username and password are to connect to it.  Some hosts may have it, but charge extra to use it or your host just may not have it at all.

Do a search on php and mysql tutorials and learn.  That's all I ever do to learn anything...search, read, search, read, experiment, break things, learn.

thank you... i found out that on the hosting plan i have right now i don't have a mysql database, but on the one i'm about to get i have two of them.  thank you... take care.   http://www.alexkio.net
