I have Apache 2.0.32, PHP 4.0, MySQL 4.0.

I have installed all of them to the best of my knowledge.

I have created a database for YabbSE 1.0.

I tried to install it and opening install.php it says, "ok, no safe mode, go ahead, click here" ...

I click and nothing happens ....

What's the matter ?

I tried so many things that a little help would be really appreciated ...

Thanks, powergen

Thanks for answering me, Alex.

What do you mean with "got a URL to the install.php" ?

I opened that file from the server itself at 127.1.0.0, do you think it's right ?

Yes, I do know that, many of them are betas.

But they are running smooth after days and days.

Alex, usually when it doesn't move forward with that link ... what could it be ?

Thanks again,

powergen

Ok, here's another piece of news it could help :

PHP goes in error saying :

[Thu Mar 07 15:14:44 2002] [error] [client 127.1.0.0] PHP Warning:  Undefined variable:  step in G:\yabbse\install.php on line 25, referer: http://127.1.0.0/yabbse/install.php?step=zero

And on line 25 there's this code :

"if(!$step)"

Hope it helps !

Another little piece it could help :

I checked Apache and works smooth.

I checked PHP and it works smooth (checked via info.php)

I do not know whether MySQL is properly installed.

I know for sure I have created 3 databases, have no test database and of course have the basic mysql one.

Please if you or any other has a guess, thanks,

Yes, this is running on my computer.

You were right, there was a "ALL" and I placed in php.ini the command you suggested (overwriting the other one).

Now error has changed, it's :

[Fri Mar 08 15:52:39 2002] [error] [client 127.1.0.0] Directory index forbidden by rule: G:/yabbse/, referer: http://127.1.0.0/

I guess it's because Apache is set not to allow anyone to get the index of directories.

Does Yabb installer ask for directory index during install ?

And why ?

Thanks, I hope you will keep helping me, slowly we'll make it !!

Thanks,

powergen

Ok, here are my latest advancements.

I changed Apache directories rights, granting them.

No the install.php runs without causing errors of any sort BUT it always stops there ....

I've put a file with the info.php command for you to check in the phpdocs directory.

Now you can browse the whole site.

Let me know, thanks,

Ok, ehm, ehm ....

Ok, you have tried to help me ...

But I've helped me out too....

WHY was that install.php NOT working ?

Since I had instructed PHP wrong, or better I had chosen to use the suggested php.ini the one with ironed out settings for enhanced security instead of the base one.

YOU should always check out that the following variables are so set in the php.ini :

register_globals = On

magic_quotes_gpc = On

doc_root = the document root folder of your Web

serverextension_dir = the PHP extension directory

Then you'll be OK.
