Mod Idea: Invite a friend

  if you look @ ikonboard you will see they av abit where it comes up @ the bottom invite a friend , y not have that on yabb? if un sure its on my test board http://roby2k.l33t.ca/cgi-bin/ib/ikonboard.cgi   ( i do use YaBB Mainly this ikonboard was a test.

Uh huh sure...

Here is how I tell my friends...

1) Open email client
2) Compose email
3) Send it

Although what you're asking for is pretty simple

if you check how ikonboard av done it and use it on YaBB SE im sure it will be great. its for the lazy ppl  you know having to open the client n type, when u can just set the friend email address n press send

my point was to state we already have the feature

2. click on send users E-mail
3.Delete the User list
4.Put friends Email address in instead
5.Choose Sublecty and type message
6.press send

All from the comfort of Your admion center

Well I can make one real fast only takes a few minutes then some debugging time. I can make it so you can place it anywhere on the site or make it so you can place it somewhere on the board. IE: board menu, or in another place.

I'm going with where you can place it anywhere on the site. And if you want I can show you how to place it on the board. Not that hard. Mainly just a link too it anyways.

Guys, it's VERY simple.

Create a function in Subs.php called yymailfriend.

Get it to open a small window with a form where a user can enter their info.  On submit, it calls the same form but send the email off.

Then to add it wherever you need it on your site, just add the yabb tag wherever you need it.

Yeah, you can do it that way.

I'm making mine a stand alone system for now. This way you can access it from the main page. (or any other page) The dilly will have a preset text file with the message you want to send out to who you recommend your site to. If site admin wants to change what it says they just change what it says in the text file.

So far I name it Suggest a Site 2002 version 0.1
Next version I will intergrate some admin features to it , and maybe intergrate some of the features into mysql.

Who knows...
I just like to do *some stuff* seprate from YaBB SE otherwise I think with all these new functions, YaBB SE might become blottedware like Microsft Windows.   and it may possible may make your board  run a bit slower.

i am relaxed.... and yes i was reluctant as I host forums for over 32 sites now....  and once i have to upgrade one forum i have to upgrade all 32 !  Hence my sig: Network Forums...  so it meant more trouble then it was worth...  I was going to use a vBulletin, or an iKonBoard... but the layout of neither appealed to me... and also the post features of YaBB are sweeter then vBulletin...

in a poll of over 3000 votes 2456 came out in favour of YaBB SE.
