IM showing invalid message count

When I logg into my site after converting the old yabb to SE, I get on the top you have 9 IM messages.
But when I click on to none are shown.

Is there a way to rid myself of that bug?
Or an input I can delete from the server or the script.

I dont mind it reporting I have emails but I
fear that my users may have this same problem as well.
