how can I disable smilies?

Hi,
all my users just hate those smilies, so I need to disable them so that if someone is writing a message there wouldn't be those christmastree-alike-smiliefaces in the form. How can I totally disable them?

to remove the smilies, you'll need to edit subs.php in the section sub_makesmilies (well thats what it was called for Y1G) just remove all the smilies

so its just like

Then you'll need to edit post.php, instantmessage.php and modifymessage.php and edit out the Add Smilies: list.
