The files under Source directory are set mod to 666 by installer.  I can't change mod fore these files via FTP, it says operation not permited!

How do I do this?

I don't think I have the telnet service.  But I'm asking my host but they haven't got back to me.  Is there another way?

If you don't have permission to chmod your files, well, then you don't have permission. Asking your host is the only way to go.

It's the same problem I am having...

If you take the files out of the source directory and move them up one, then you can change CHMOD to 775 or 777, but when you put them back into sources, they return to default 666.

What's the deal ?

I'm going to create a new directory and move all my sources files to there and then change CHMOD, but that seems a bit long winded...

I moved some files from sources to the main forum folder, changed CHMOD there and I got good results, but I don't understand why I can't change the CHMOD in the sources folder only...?

Anyone got any bright ideas ?
