Yabb SE does not work with XP/IE6.0, well it works but the new post icon does not ever show up.  I have verified this the following way :My testing clients were 3 different Windows XP machines running IE 6.0, all on different ISPs with no proxy or firewall servers inbetween, and 1 Windows NT4.0 IE 4.5 clientI tested both here, and on my own Yabb SE board, as well as several other Yabb SE links off of this board. On NONE of the Yabb SE boards did the "New Post" button appear for the IE6 clients, but it worked fine for the IE 4.5 client on all of them.  I don't know what IE6 does differntly but it is becoming a mainstream client and not having new post functionality rather completely cripples the boards to these users ..

Well I dont know what else to say other then that is the only commonality between computers.  Since my last post I have tried it on an IE 4, 4.5, 5.0, and 5.5 and they all work fine, none of the xp/ie6 machines can see the "new post" button, and if i do a view source its not even in the source.  And yes it does it on my installation, but it also does it right here so i know its something internal to yabb se ... i also had a friend try it from home a few mins ago who is also xp/ie6 and it didnt work for him either ..

Very very interesting .. i found the problem .. and its not xp/ie6 .. its adpurger ... for some very strange reason the "new topic" and "mark as read" pop up in code as "ads" and are blocked by any adblocker software (the other common denominator between all of the pcs that didnt work) while this is no longer a serious issue i am still slightly concerned that these 2 buttons pop up as adds ?  I know a number of my users use adblock software and dont want to limit their use of the boards .. And why does the New Poll button not do this ?  What is the difference in how they are coded ?

That is VERY weird...the ad blocking software, what does it determine are ads?  Did the images appear broken or just not there?

Perhaps what was happening was the ad blocking software was blocking cookies from your machine?  Although that still wouldn't explain why you couldn't see new post but could see new poll...

You can download Adpurger for yourself and take a look, the default security setting is Medium which blocks popups and ads.  If you set it to low security it only blocks popups, and the new post button works.  You can also go into statistics and see the breakdown and it is clearly showing a ton of "ad" blocks on www.yabb.info .  At least I have found the problem not sure what to do about it as Adpurger has been becoming more and more popular as sites like msn start putting in popups .. (i LOVE adpurger makes surfing the net much less of a hassle)

I'll let someone else check it out, I don't like installing that type of thing on my system, just clutters it up.  I will go to their site and see if I can find anything though.

This is from their FAQ:

AdPurger is blocking some images that are not really Ad Banners

There are three ways to solve this problem

1) Set your filtering level to lower one.

2) Separately configure a web site that is not shown correctly, by either disabling ad filtering at all, or specifying its own settings.

3) Turn filtering off and hit Refresh.

YaBB SE is functioning as it should and, in my opinion, if people want to use ad blocking software, they should be able to work with it (and therefore allow the site in question to display all images).

How can you say it is working as intended ?  You realize of course that none of the buttons from Yabb Gold are blocked, or any other bulliten board right ?

While it is easy to wave off as someone elses problem when you don't use the software, anyone that runs a halfway decent sized board is going to be concerend by this.  I fail to see how this is an Adpurger problem when it ONLY happens with Yabb SE boards, and only on those 2 buttons, the simple fact that the New Poll button shows up means there is something differnt in the code that could be changed to make Yabb SE perform properly.

It's easy to say it's another programs errors when the HTML created is *valid* HTML.

I could understand if SE was doing something weird, but the source for those buttons is
<a href="http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=127;action=markasread"><img src="http://www.yabb.info/community/YaBBImages/markread.gif" alt="Mark Topics as Read for this Board" border="0"></a> <a href="http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=127;action=post;title=Start+new+thread"><img src="http://www.yabb.info/community/YaBBImages/new_thread.gif" alt="Start new topic" border="0"></a>can you see any reason why that might be blocked out?

Appart from that - let's see if we can figure out some other stuff.  Is the buttons missing on every board?

I'm not much of a code expert can't help with that, but yes it is every board and all 4 Yabb SE installations i've looked at.  Can someone who knows code look at the differences between the new post and new poll buttons ?  maybe the clue is there ..

Damn.  There is virtually no difference between them.

Mark as Read:
<a href="http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=131;action=markasread"><img src="http://www.yabb.info/community/YaBBImages/markread.gif" alt="Mark Topics as Read for this Board" border="0"></a>
New Topic
<a href="http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=131;action=post;title=Start+new+thread"><img src="http://www.yabb.info/community/YaBBImages/new_thread.gif" alt="Start new topic" border="0"></a>
New Poll
<a href="http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=131;action=postpoll"><img src="http://www.yabb.info/community/YaBBImages/new_poll.gif" alt="Post New Poll" border="0"></a>
Are you able to see the 'mark as read' button?

The only difference is the title being passed for the new thread:

Does the option show up if you change the settings to "Use text menu instead of images?" I know images are spiffy, but it might tell you more if its the image or something else.
