I have searched for this problem but have come up empty handed.  When new members register and log in to my board they can not do anything but see the statistics.  I have the Disallow unchecked like it should be.  The only way they can post and read is if I go into their profile and manually change the position to member.  What am i doing wrong?  I know it is something simple but i am totally missing it.

Sounds like in your category pages, you've set the 'Only access for membergroup(s):' field to 'Member'

If you want everyone to have access to the category, leave that field blank.
