You can easily copy your files over and create a dump file to import into your new database...

Great.  Just exactly the question I had, and a few others who are interested in their own YaBB SEs as well.  So it is possible to transport the database.

But this "dump file" is a bit beyond my knowledge.  Could you elaborate, or at least point us in the right direction?  Thanks.

With phpMyAdmin you can do a "dump" of your database to a disk file. This creates a ".sql" file on your local disk. On the new host, again in phpMyAdmin, you just run the ".sql" file created on the old host, and your data are in.
