why do these mods not work??

Everyone I have a question,

I am running 1.4 latest version.  I have went to the YABBpac center, downloaded some mods, ran the installation and it keeps giving me errors like.  "There is an error most likely in the mod file in ///subs.  file"

and also I get "cannot write to english.lng file"

what the hell is going on?? Am I just the only one having trouble or do these things not work?

Since it was requested...where do you propose this be mvoed to? I thought it was an appropriate board...sort of.

Well there are 2 different types of mods... YaBBPak's and BoardMod mods. Most of the mods in the completed mods board are BoardMod and not YaBBPak. There are a few that are YaBBPak which have the .yp extension. Use them since they are YaBBPak's. As for the mod files, you will need to download boardmod to install those mods.

Okay everyone,

I have tried both ways, the Yabbpak and the boardmod, yes I know the difference.  NEITHER WORK.  I am trying to install the global moderator function, this is just the first error I receive.

An Error Has Occurred!

2: Unable to create 'english.lng~': Permission denied
(/home/mediumja/public_html/yabbse/Sources/Packages.php ln 349)

I have to tell you.  I ran YaBBSP1 for a long time before switching servers and never had trouble installing the mods with BoardMod, and now I cannot seem to get any of them installed?  PLEASE HELP

That is my mod. You are installing which version(YaBBPak or Boardmod)?

Make sure that english.lng exists in the board directory. It writes some language stuff to the file. After it has been written to english.lng you can then translate it to any other language you want.

Hi Chris,

I have tried both the pak and the boardmod, my preference is the pack.  That is where I got the error above then if I click BACK after that error there are 10 more with the same kind of errors just different files.  And yes the english.lng file does exist in the directory.  I am stumped

Chmod your directory so that things can be written to it.
