Chat for Yabb!!!

 ;Dhi! i am working on a chat for yabb. The main chat application is working with java. the chat is real time so it is very fast!!!
also the chat has
smilies
guestbooks for every users
admin functions
moderators
superusers
vip´s
&many more
the only problem is howto combine yabb and the chat? so i would need only a php file which copies the sql member-data to a text data for the chat. this would be all. it could work like this.

you add some program text in your registration form of yabb and it do not only writes the member-data to sql, it also writes it to text files on the web-host. So on the registration you would register for chat and for the forum. wouldn´t this be great???

this is no applet. it is a pure java chat. so examples you can view at commercial sites. my chat is totally like this chats. for example view http://chat.orf.at its a german site with a fast chat.

the client side is one thing, what about the server side? are u using irc channels or a own server application?

I've been trying to make an IRC chat client mod for YaBB for ages...

A friend sent me some Java code, I compiled it and signed it, yet it wouldn't connect to any IRC servers, not even localhost... couldn't be bothered to see what was wrong, got deleted.

Jpilot costs money, so if it was used in a mod, people would have to pay.

Eteria IRC requires you to sign the applet which takes time, and if you want a professional job costs money. It hasn't been developed in over a year and is buggy.

ConferenceRoom works great on my localhost IRC server, but only if the daemon I'm using is ConferenceRoom Server. It won't connect to any non-CR IRC servers, so that idea goes out the window.

So basically I haven't found a solution after trying lots of applets - apirc wouldn't even load in the browser window. I really want a chat applet that will connect to the IRC server my channel is on, but I doubt I'll find one... for free.

Yep any applet that connects to an external server needs signing so its pretty much impossible without using something like jpilot which uses their digi cert but as you say you have to pay for it.

And conference room looks crap

we have stopped our project. but on this site:

you can download a chat system which is pretty similar to ours.

its also possible to connect the chat to mysql. it has an own server application running and needs a dedicated server. another thing to do would be to make a link to the chat in the forums.

Been using this for a while now.. java chat that passes over YaBBSE usernames... has a html frontend if java doesnt work for you.. also can connect via IRC.
