Oh, found a bug...

If you log out having one or more categories collapsed, they're as you left them when you come back, right?
But if there is any new messages inside since last time, it wont show until you expand the category...

I'm not sure, but it seems like the "new" indicator just shows if there are new posting while you are logged in?

Quote from: lenaP on May 18, 2002, 07:23:17 AMI have a couple of ideas, though.
The first one is probably a quite simple one; add an anchor to the close/open buttons, so that if you expand or collapse a category a bit down on the page, you don't jump back to the top.

This can be done.

QuoteThe second I don't know if it's possible, and it's just a cosmetic change: If you have 4 pictures, one for closed and no new messages, one closed with new messages, one open with new and one open with no new... and skip the small new picture that is used now.
Since I have changed the colors of the on.gif and off.gif, I will use them instead, just rotate them 1/4 around for closed and as is for open, I'll have 4 pictures.

This is easy change too. But I AM LAZY to create the images. Make me those images.. I will make another mod file to modify the existing mod. (some people may not want it)..  However, displaying new indicator while the category open doesn't what I want to do... that actually double the process. If you want it.. this should be done as a hard code by DEV TEAM. Restructuring the source, not the mod file making a few changes like this.

Correct.

Correct again.

That is definitely correct. If you are guest, what is the new post?. And the new indicator should show only when the category is collapsed.. when it is expanded the indicator is no used, since the soft-green diamond on each board will say it.

No, you're right, the open-with-new-image isn't a very good idea at a second thought... But the other one, closed-with-new?

But that's not really important, more important is the bug (if it is a bug) I mentioned in a later post...
Do you have a solution for that?
I'd be very happy... ;)

I have checked your web site.. things seems to work correctly to me.. The new indicator works in the same way as the diamond indicator. if all boards in that category are dark diamond.. the news indicator shouldn't show up when the category is collapsed. .. On the other way, it won't show up too, if the category is opened.

I'm not sure I explain what I ment well enough, so I give it another try... ;)

I am a member, and I leave all categories collapsed when I log out.
While I am logged out there are some new postings.
I come back, log in, and the categories are still collapsed as they are supposed to be. But there aren't any news indicators shown. I don't know if there are any new messages until I open all categories.

Get me? Or maybe it was me not understaning what you ment... :-\

It seems to me that your board is working fine, too.. I still don't understand what the bug Lena is mentioning about.  And if your button isn't copyrighted, I would recommend people to use it as an alternative... Very nice.

Thank you.
