YaBB SE HTML Generation Fixes

I have created a mod that fixes most of the YaBB SE HTML generation errors and makes output far closer to the HTML 4.01 Transitional specification.

Where can I upload it to for people to test?

The Completed Mods Section  does not appear to have file attachments enabled.

Am I doing something wrong?

Not sure why

A) This was posted in the bugs section

and

B) What exactly your mod is doing since SE is compliant already...

http://validator.w3.org

Just a few non compliant examples:
http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=141;action=search
http://www.yabb.info/community/Reminder.php?action=input_user
http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=;action=register

The default YaBB SE template also has a few problems.

There are several admin pages that are not compliant.

Just tell me where I can upload the mod and you can see for yourselves.  :)

I am stumped as to why you are unable to attach a file in the Completed Mods Section as it seems to work for anyone else.
It could possibly be some sort of censor routine that checks the file and if it is of no apparent use, then it refuses to allow the attachment.
Since YaBB SE is, to the best of my knowledge, compliant to todays standards.  Perhaps if you are having problems with your own installation then the fault lies in modifications you attempted to make to your template or source files that are causing your problems.

cheers........

You must be joking, SE is "out-of-the-box" not compliant at all. Don't get me wrong, SE is the best free BBS there is, I don't want to flame here, but I think the developers didn't get the point of HTML 4 when they included the "W3C HTML4.01"-Button in the release by default; the banner is meant as an award for sites that actually do comply - the usage by sites that don't simply makes a lot of people (including me) angry.
The usage of the <font>-tag and various others widly used within SE is considered deprecated (see http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/conform.html#deprecated.
I therefor would greatly appreciate a mod making SE HTML 4.01 compliant and take the risk of other mods not working without manual installation.

When running the default template through the validator it comes up clean...

Tim C spent a lot of time making sure it did.

I see that font is in fact no longer in use however, you must still make use of it in order to support older browsers...

it still clears on the HTML check...

Since no one could answer my question regarding where I could upload my file to distribute the mod, I will need to use my own web space.

[link removed - PM me if you want it]

Note that I have labeled the mod as Alpha. I have tested it on my own forum and have found no problems, but I might have missed something.

Please read the notes as well.

John R:
If you could give me full directions to show me where the attach file button is in the Completed Mods section with links I would much appreciate it.

Who says I was having any problems with my installation?

Let me just sum up what I did.
I saw a problem with some YaBB SE pages not being correct HTML 4.01 Transitional code.
I spent time to create a mod that would fix the YaBB SE code.
I thought it would be a good idea to share it so that it would benefit others / the YaBB SE project.

I'm not sure where the hostility came in, but I did not feel welcome after I posted.

I'm sorry I may have posted it in the wrong forum, but I thought that my mod addressed the criteria of
a) documenting bugs
b) showing how to fix them

That's probably my fault, my apologies.

I just know that Tim spent hours making it work and it kept showing good in the validator so I didn't understand what was going on.

However, it's a valuable mod, I'll give it a peek over and upload it here sometime ;)

Yes but only global mods support team devs etc can see it so the picture is nice but alas us mere mortals will never see it ;)

[Updated]: YaBB SE HTML Generation Fixes

I have updated the mod file.

New to this version:

1) HTML fixed for guest posting and preview pages

2) Clarified mod notes section

3) Added a recommendation (not a "HTML bug" per se)

Version: 0.4 Alpha

[link removed - PM me if you want it]

Anybody have any comments / suggestions?

--
Could a mod please move this thread to a more appropriate board (perhaps back to the Bugs - 1.3.0 board)?

Thanks,
