I think that is a poor way of doing a search.  You shouldn't have to do that...

It does work but every new person that tries to do a search will have the same problem until told the odd ball way of doing it.

I hope this is fixed in the next version.

Quote from: Daniel D. on April 22, 2002, 08:00:12 PMYou have to put something in the search field. Just an "a" or "e". It works ! And change the days at the bottom if you want to search old posts...

Someone said this was fixed or changed in 1.3. Whats been changed?? This is no different than 1.1 -- you always had to put something in the search field before you could search for posts from a specific user.

This is a really inefficient way to do a search and frankly, its ridiculous to expect the average user on most boards to figure that out without explicitly stating it somewhere. In which case you're basically saying "Hi, if you want to search for posts from a user, without putting in a keyword -- well, you can't. But you can put in '.' as the keyword." I dunno, it just sounds kinda corny. Hopefully someone will find a way to let people just search for posts by username without putting something in the keyword field.

Also, VB allows you to change the sort order of the results based not only on post time, but by number of replies or views, by poster, or by forum. That might be a nice addition to a new, advanced search feature.

I do like the fact that YaBB boards let you search as many specific boards as you like, though.

I also would like to see the results only as a list of topics and not the quotes etc. Would help to get a good overlook of the topics.
