New IM's Indicator

Hey peoplez...

and yet another sprout of creativity...

I know that the advanced IM on YaBB SP1 lets you know how many messages you have and how many of these are new... I think this would be a great feature for YaBB SE or something similar to indicate new messages... even a java popup option that the user can choose to enable or disable...

An improved IM system (including new messages) is/was in the works long before the days of YaBB SE 1.1.0.
Unfortunately this won't be part of 1.3.0.
I guess we have to wait a little longer for that necessary mod.
Hopefully there is someone, who can do at least the new messages mod. I would do it, if only I knew something about PHP coding (or coding in general).

Well I am doing something similar with my site, so I might as well make a mod out of it for yall. So before anyone gets any ideas... "I CALL THIS ONE"

That would be damn nice of ya.

Would be the final thing I need before I can get rid of Y1G and move totally over to SE (my members love IMs.. but dont seem to be able to remember which messages are new etc!?)

I had advanced IM's on my gold board, loved how you could tell which messages were read, if you had replied to them etc.

But at the moment would just like some sort of new message notification :-)

I am not designing an advanced IM center(I believe the developers of YaBBSE are already working on an advanced IM center anyway so no point in me making one), all I am going to do is make it so it will be able to tell you whether or not you have new messages on the top where it says your user name, and on the index where it tells you if you have any messages.

Well I am practically finished, the only thing left for me to do is add the text to English.lng. Go to http://www.agigames.com/boardmod/ then register and check out the new messages stuff. I have tested it and it does work.

how about popup notification alerting new IM's?  Maybe make this default so the people that didn't even know that there was an IM center will be notified if anyone ever sent them one.
