Disable set display name for users

I would like to disable te function on my forum for users to set their display-name. Only the Administrator must be able to change the display-name instead of every user itself.

Does anybody know if it's possible and when it is, HOW?

Because the display name is (in my opinion) the first thing that people look at when they read posts.

I have some users who just keep on changing their name which is very irritating. They choose a name when they make their account and that name is the one they should keep. When they want to change it, the admin can do it for them... :)

You got some weird memebers then to go thru the hassel to keep changing their name, glad I don't have that problem.

Yeps... I've got some weird members indeed... :) Just like much people in my MSN-list do, also some members of my forum are never satisfied with their name... Which irritates a lot of other members (including me).

But my question is: Does anybody know how I can modify my forum so that users can't change their display-names anymore? I would really appreciate it if somebody could help me out with this problem.

tip.. remove the field in profile.php and put a hidden tag in that uses the same variable as their username.

$displayname=$username;

then it will take care of that for ya.  I will take a look in a min

thanx for the tip, but what field in profile.php should I remove? And then, where do I place the $displayname=$username; tag?

(sorry, I'm still a php newbee ::))


/edit: Sorry, I already found it... I should do more Trial & Error work next time first... :)

HariZ- Can you let me know if it worked and where you ut it exactly?  I have the same problem with people changing their name every week for some reason
