yep, js files are cached...
I noticed that when I changed some of my js files and the changes "didn't take effect" because of the cached version.. pretty annoying, actually...

I guess it depends on what the user was using it for

When you have collapsed categories - do you really intend to be uncollapsing them often?

I know I'd be using it for stuff like collapsing the language-specific support boards which I don't usually read

thats true.. i would like to just get a quick view of the index instead of having to read the entire thing and i do hate looking at the language boards.

the point that's most important to me  (being an administrator and coder) is that in a server side version you're actually reducing the load on the server when you hide a category.

Because that category is hidden, it doesn't have to be processed.

I ran a test and hid all the categories on the yabb.info board, and I found I was saving a MINIMUM of 0.04 seconds of processing time.

Now, when you'd trying to keep the processing time between .1 and .2 seconds that 0.04 is a big difference.

does this mod work with 1.3?

has anyone ever seen the other bbs' where if you click on a category it will only display the category?  I think that would be best for what u want to do jo

but it only displays one category and it doesnt use as much bandwith.  Of course it would suck if this was a standard feature but it would still b nice for some

1.3 is out? no
so how it can work with 1.3 if 13 is not out? lol

anyway the mod is not yet released because i noticed some problems with cookie and hidden categories :)

on my site you can test the most recent version with cookie enabled

Now it works perfect with IE and has some hidden cats problems with Mozilla when you are logged out. But i think we'll release it shortly because the fix may come later.

Just posted a request for this in the Other Help forum.

I WANT THIS!

i have 70 forums on my board!

18 categories with 4 forums in each...ugh. i really need this mod.

can you makeit to default to collapsed?
that would be best if it dosnt remember the cookies. id be happy with that if i could get it sooner...hehe.
maybe an option in the mod admin?

All my mods are designed as an option in mod admin. Anyway it has the cookie so no problem with the default.

About release: i'm wondering to wait 1.3.0 before release.
