backing up the database

I recently made a major mistake and deleted some 4000 posts on my board.  :-\ I thought I had backed it all up before I played around with it, but those threads and posts were not anywhere to be found.  :'( I posted on the wrong YaBB board, and was told to come here because YaBBSE has a different config for backing up files. Can you tell me how to back up the actual threads to my hard drive? I'd appreciate the help!  ;)

One more question... how come I don't have the space on my profile list for MSN Messenger? How can I get that?

If you're interested in seeing my site, it's http://www.divadish.com

Do you have phpMyAdmin?

If so, find these options when viewing your database.

1. "View dump (schema) of database"
[for some reason "dump" is the same as save!?"]

2. Select one of the radio buttons
•Structure Only
•Structure and Data
•Data Only
[I say go with "Structure and Data" to save the complete db]

3. Select "Save as File" and then hit the "Go" button.

4. A Download should begin automatically of "your_database_name.sql".

Some of the options may be different depending on your version of phpMyAdmin, but should be close enough.

MSN Mod is coming in a later version of YaBB SE.  This board is running v. 1.3.0

Forgive me if this sounds "duh" but I just need to make sure before clicking a thing  ;D  I have no 3. Select "Save as File" option prior to hitting the go button.

I see this:

Should I leave that "as is" and then go?

Thanks in advance

I can view the whole database when clicking the database name in the left colum as you say but still no "save" option anywhere. I am using:

phpMyAdmin 2.1.0
MySQL 3.22.32

Any ideas please before I click "send" and see what happens then come back screaming "help" bigstyle ;)

you have an older version of phpMyAdmin.  The newest supports zipped but your version does not.  I have this same problem on my host.

For those of you (like me) with archaic versions of phpmyadmin and no "save"  feature you just use the "send" option and the database is backed up to your H/D as a SQL file::)
