text and phrase replacement

ok, this may seem a little silly, in my mind it can be somewhat useful.

what i've been wanting is modified version of the censor words function. what it would do is take, for example, the word "keyword or phrase" and then replace it with either

Code Select Expand

<a href="http://www.keywordwebsite.org" target="_blank">keyword or phrase</a> or

Code Select Expand

[url=http://www.keywordwebsite.org]keyword or phrase[/url] or something along those lines. it would be admin specified words and urls of course. mainly for things relating to the site or other pages within the site.the censor function does not, of course, work with those type of changes.

a lot of the actual reason i want it too is for the latest_topics addition or the news.php (when it is officially released). i know it would be useful for me and possibly some others here. but then again, maybe i am just lazy.. hehe.

hehe.. just when i thought this topic was dead.

technically, it doesn't have to be a completely new function. possibly it can be a modified censor words. of course i am not a php coder and know not what i am saying.

 i had just found when i tried to use the cesor words funtion, it would only accept the length of one word and the urls wouldn't work because the "=" sign in the link code would mess up the whole thing. instead of using the  "=" sign, maybe a different symbol could be used or possibly switch the variables to being put within a container of some sort (like parenthesis or brackets).

just a thought, but like i said, i am not a php expert. so i do not know the difficulty level of these things.

tried it already. when i put in my variables, it deletes everything after the second "=". plus if i have a phrase like "kung fool" it doesn't take in the translation.

This would be kool for a "glossary" that would link new terms or "keywords".  Perfect for new users of your boards...
