In order to make the board, thread and message index a bit more overlookable it would be a good idea to make an option in the admin section:

to remove all images to the left of the board and thread indexes - it causes to much distraction for me,

to make the forum links on top of eveything a side-wise linking - it also causes to much distraction for me,

to make either the userinformation column a different colour in mesage index or to make the textfield an entirely different coulr so the actual info you use the most the text that is stand out more clearly,

to make pop-up-when-mouse-over everywhere you hace some information that makes the indexmodule(the board information, the threadinformation) fill more than one line.

Good idea, no ????

change the images to a transparent 1x1 gif
the 2nd one is not hard and the last one was possibly already being worked on.

Is it that hard to read???

Why change the images to transp..... and what does it mean ?

And yes - for a forum it is silly (DO NOT get me wrong YaBB is GREAT !!!) to have all these distracting things flying around - Back to Basics is more or less the slogan behind............

While we are at it -

It seems fairly stupid at all to have something to the left of the text since it tyakes up so much space, and for an example my name has 11 characters in it therefore the wasted space is not only large but it is also different from the next an that also causes stupid textual confusion ----

DOES NO ONE REALLY CARE ABOUT THIS - IS NOBODY USING THE BOARD FOR ITS PURPOSE ?????

THE DESIGN OF THE THREADS MUST BE CHANGED TO BETTER FIT THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE BOARD.

Nothing to the left of the indexes - all things go up - so all info on the posts are between them (up relative to a post) to keep the post layout consistent and optimally using the space that is there .

Please respond to this _ I am a little disappointed no one cares about this - it is after all the main purpose of a board to be able to read the posts in a proper manner - no ????

It is the only logical way to do it ............

That stuff is not hard to do just modify messageindex and display.php and remove those features, other features you can just add in the template with javascript also you can change the cell color from those files too... but no one really made this mod cause it is so trival. Must peeps like that stuff. I am working on a mod tha moves that stuff to above the post instead of the left of the post.

I personally like having user information to the left of the post and if you look at other board software it is the same.  It doesn't bother me but feel free to make the mod.

Me too. It is easier to read because the user information is kind of a left column and the message is a right column. So it is easy to keep them separated. If the information would be on top you would have to skip over it every time you scroll a message down.

I'd say if you want a barebones forum, go back to the old wwwthreads.   If you want a fully-featured badass forum, use YaBB SE and leave the driving to us.

Not exactly followers to my church *S*

But  anyway - Nemesis you where working on a mod to have the info on top of the post - excellent all I need to know and have and long for ...... Thanx keep me informed please about a possible release - cuz its a really good idea .......

To the rest of you ...hhmmmm.... we disagree about the proper lay-out but I hope you see my point (noone has said they do but I hope) so that it will be justified that a mod is created and perhaps an option in the admin centre in the future who knows.....

His site looks great !!!

Is he using the SSI.php to do the news or is that a part of the POSTNUKE ???

Do you know ?? Or maybe you Shaun - do you ???

But I was also thinking about the name and all info to the left. Then you could get the info in between the posts - seems fairly logical it should be done this way since when you are reading a thread you are primarily following that . reading a post and going on to read another post - and then secondly if you want to know about the posters you can alwqays look up on the posts since you know all info is there.

You re by have to parts the posts and the posters serated nicely and functionally.

I like the profile where it is, just want to move the info/im center below it to the area belw the signature line, that looks good enough.

You can do that stuff with an portal proggy, or you can use SSI.php like I did on my site. To me SSI.php is awsome!
