Couldn't find this request :

Whenever I receive an email when there is a reply to the topic I'm subscribed to, the thread looks like :

View it at http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=4127

Then I have to go to the last page to see the actual topic.

Why not put it directly in the sent link like :

View it at http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=4127;start=75

Or (if that isn't possible) :

View it at http://www.yabb.info/community/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=4127;start=5000

So that it will always go to the last page (I guess there won't be more then 200 pages in one thread  ;D ) ??

I think that would be a lot better !!

Is it possible / simple to do ?!

well, in fact out notification emails lack some useful things, like pointing at least to the page with the new post.

If noone else mades mod for it, I think I will look for that functionality since i use notification a lot.
But now i'm quite busy with 1.3.0 things.

Well, let's hope someone saves me the work :D

We can easily add it for 1.3.0 it's a simple fact of adding start variable :)

You can even go directly to the post that the mail refers to (when there are 6 replies, and you open reply nr. 2 f.e.) by using the code that is used bij the unread mesages mod :

Example :

http://www.salesplaza.nl/forum/index.php?board=15;action=display;threadid=1986;start=75;msg=13841#13841

You see the : start=75 and msg=13841#13841  ?!

So who decides what code to be used ?

Now I too can't wait for 1.3.0  ;D

I personally don't like the use of anchors via #, but just going to the page in question wouldn't hurt.

I've been playing with Y1G-SP1 in the last few days (yes, I'm a newbie to YaBB, but I've been using Perl since before version 5).  I've got a couple forums that were set up at Yahoo Groups, and I really need to migrate them to something more reliable without obnoxious ads.

The one important feature of YG that's missing from YaBB (as nearly as I can tell) is the email intergration.  Y1G and YaBBSE of course have lots of great features that YG lacks (open source too), but this email feature is really important to most of my current subscribers.  So, I'm looking for some quick feedback about where I should start to hack this in (or tell me to RTFM if I missed it).

So what the hell am I talking about?  The idea is that users can participate using the web site, using email only, or any combo of the two.  If they've enabled email in their profile, messages are emailed to them as they're posted, and if they reply to the email, their reply gets posted to the forum.  They can also send an email "out of the blue" to the board, and it starts a new topic.  YG also has a "daily digest" to send all the messages only once per day per board, but only 10% of the users choose this.  Most set the email at "individual messages".

Why do I need this?  #1 is that I have a lot of users who participate this way now and they like it.  #2 is that several of these folks read/reply to messages while they are at work.  This second point is critical.  They usually are using a corporate proxy (big brother is watching) and there are often draconian rules about what types of web sites should be accessed.  Also, there's some workplace stigma that a web browser window with colorful web pages displayed is "goofing off", but somehow a window with text-only email looks more like productive work to coworkers as they pass by and casually glance at the screen.

I added the Notify Plus 2.2 mod, and it gets about 1/2 way there.  The notifications have a copy of the recently posted message.  It needs some cosmetic changes, and there needs to be a per-board setting for the outgoing email address.  The part that I'm thinking I'll need to build from the ground up is a daemon program to receive the incoming messages and post them into the forum.

I'm looking for some feedback.  Has anyone already done this?  Is there some pitfall I should know about?  Any suggestions about where I should start or the path I should take to make something useful.

Thanks,
Paul
