Ok - a lot of people want mods that would include stuff in other pages using SSI.  I think it would be a REALLY good idea to stick all such mods in a special file - like SSI.php

What I'd like to know is what people would want to include?

I've heard the following
  • top poster
  • recently modified topics
  • who's online
  • welcome message
Is there anything else?
Is this just a dumb idea I should scrap?

That's REALLY lame to see:

This is NOT a dumb idea!  After switching to SE, I had to turn some of that stuff off and my members have been begging for me to put it back.  I especially love the news ssi, where you can show site news from the forum on another page, then click on show comments or write comment and it takes you right to the thread.  You guys have it going on the yabb gold boardmod page.  I still have to use my old perl version to keep the news stuff up, but part of my page shows the other cool stuff as disabled.  In case I'm rambling here, go to my page and check out the front of it. You'll know what I mean then.

Forgive my ignorance, but how do I make a donation?  I would love to.  You guys are the best board out there by far IMO.

Upon reading this post, Joseph, something ocurred to me:

An SSI.php file could re-revolutionize the YaBB revolution! ;)

Ok, perhaps thats an exaggeration. Or maybe not. I don't know, all I know is I would LOVE to have this as a standard part of YaBB SE!

If we're making requests, here's what I'd really like to see:

1) A Login Box Include:
Login to the board from elsewhere on the site if so desired

2) A "User's Instant Messages" Include:
Display the typical "Hey, irbrian, you have 5 messages" anywhere in the site (which would then link to the IM page on the board)

Perhaps these are too much work, though.. they might require changes to the login/sessions system. But they sure would be awesome!

Is there anyway to make it say: "Hey, irbrian, you have 5 messages. 3 New messages" ?
In YaBB Gold I used to have You've got mail (pop-up message), and now it's kinda hard to notice when I have new messages.. ;D
