New Package Manager Plans

Well, I started working on the new Package Manager v0.8 today (yes, I skipped .6 versions ).  I have some really cool features, and it was ready for testing, and then, I was stupid and downloaded my old Package Manager on top of it ... so, I figured, I might as well show you the readme file, just to tease you

YOU MUST have the old package manager installed,
not the one the came with YaBB SE, but the first

I SKIPPED a few versions because, quite frankly,
I felt like it, and I don't think this is nearly
as BETA as the original package manager.

The Testers were:

-- COMPATIBILITY LIST --------------------
THIS MOD works well with all servers.

FEATURES that have been previously not worked with
safe mode have new ways of doing things for people
with safe mode.

-- ABOUT THIS MOD ------------------------
WHAT this mod adds:
  ? The following tags:
    ? <id>
    ? <version>
    ? <author>
    ? <email>
    ? <homepage>
    ? <info>
  ? Nicer uninstaller
  ? Descriptions in file server
  ? Shows manual link
  ? Has "approved by mod team" embedded
  ? Better download in safe mode support -- will display the
      index.php file for the file server to give a list of mods
      so that people with safe mode can download easier
  ? Probably more...

PLANNED improvements:
  ? offline mod editor and boardmod software, and some way to
      make them compatible with the online version
  ? More cool stuff
  ? In-script upload abilities


ANYWAY, who wants to beta test it?

the offlin ehitng would be extremely cool - there's some currently who will not give up their trusty boardmod

currently there's a mod editor for board that i use which is extremeley nice...

Yes, it should work quite nicely with safe mode servers I decided on a way around the safe-mode download delemna

good and can I please try it for you since my server is in safe mode?PLEASE! oh and is this the same install like the original PM? just over-wrighting the old files right?

Actually, I was going to try to make a mod for it, but I don't think that will work everywhere

I hope to get this mod re completed in about a week

Ok Matt, but you can give us an instructions list with mods to make on sources, we are beta testers not final users

Yes, but I like beta testers to get the "full" testing experience (including installation )

OK, I got the new Package Manager done, I decided Manual Install is a better idea again.
