New Setup

MySQL Version: 3.23.x
Server Platform: Unix, Linux, or BSD

Problem Description:
I am trying to install from scratch. I used YaBB cgi in the past and thought I would try SE.

I am having no luck at all with getting the install.php to run.

I have created a yabbse directory and set it to '777' - I have tried the install.php and yse153.ya on various permissions with no luck.

Do you have any suggestions please.

More information is necessary.  What happens when you try to run install.php?  Error messages?

Sorry, I should have been more specific:

Sometimes the following message:

A file permissions error has occurred running this script.
Please check that the script and the directory that it's in are only writable by the site administrator.
If this error persists, please contact the server administrator.

Sometimes this message:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /yabbse/install.php on this server.

Depends on the permissions set.

Try setting the permission to 755. (not 777.)

Thanks, that did it!

All php etc has been installed but now I have problems getting into the MySQL db I created. I am onto my ISP at the moment to check there are no unknown prefixes to add.
