Chat Mod Nearing Completion

A chat room doesn't fit with a bb. Esp. not a php one where you keep hearing the annoying refresh sound.

There should be a private conversation function though, but not a chat room, esp. not one written in php. Php is a preprocessor, not a client-side extension like javascript and java.

I agree with what you say, but I made the big mistake of adding a chat mod to my board when I was running YaBB Gold SP1, and now I have users beying at my heels to have one now that we're using SE  

However, I do think Damien's approach is novel and gets around a lot of the problems you outlined.  I was certainly impressed with his demo

Check out what I did on the rat fan club forum. Http://www.goosemoose.com/rfc and click on the chat link. While it is an irc script, its AWSOME and it's on a private small irc network. Check it out. Also, since the javascript is hosted on the company's site (all free) there is no bandwith issues

I have completely quit qorking on this mod.....

And now there is a new chat that I am using....
Its IRC based, and has MANY more features than the old one....

There are a few more bugs that need to be worked out, and if there is an interest for it, I may put it together as an official mod.....

Hi Damien,
 How did you get it to say who was in the chat client and who wasn't??? Please help! I like the irc client that I have on my board much better because it looks cleaner and it has smilies, but if I could edit it to add who was in the board that would be GREAT!! Please help. Thanks
