Chat Mod Nearing Completion

Are we going to have our own "BoardMod.exe" program?

I am almost finished with the Chat mod but don't know what will be needed for final distribution.

Chat Mod Features:

- Knows All Users. (no need to re-register)
- No stupid reloading. (its flash based)
- Opens in new sized window.
- Admin can kick and ban.
- Button to view past conversations.
- Private Messaging.
- Abilities to have colored skins.
- Option to disable new message sound per-user.
- View # of users chatting from board index.
- Guests are assigned a # after their name if more than one guest is in the room at once.
- A few more that I cant remember off the top of my head.

Files Modified:
- english.php
- BoardIndex.php
- Subs.php

Added Files:
- Chat.php
- chat.swf
- etc
- etc

I'm not sure how much longer this will take me to finish but probably within a few days.

I'll post a demo link here in a little bit.

P.S. Will this mod even be used?

What about the ability for each person to type in a different color- maybe a choice of ten- it is much easier to keep up with conversation if people use different colors

Damien it would be a real shame to stop work on such a nice looking Mod.  Don't quit just because someone else is working on the same thing.  Competition and the right of the choice to use what you want are the secrets to a good forum.

Very nice looking. but people might want to change the colors of the chat. and may want to make it bigger than it already is. (such as me.)

A couple of things.  DO NOT stop working on this MOD! You have made good progress so far. I thought Omario was done with Chat?  Did he change his mind?

A few suggestions: Add smiley/emoticon support and user actions (ex. <admin is laughing at guest>), that type of thing.  See ICQ or Yahoo as an example.

It is fast and easy to use, which is nice.

One other thing: You will have to make sure people installing the mod have MING installed in Apache.

The chat mod seems to be quite cool. It's fast but it lacks features.
No urls, no change of text color, no smilies, no

* curious actions and so on.

If you can implement some of this features, this could become quite an amazing chat mod.

So go on developing! You're on a good way.

Definitely, do NOT stop. IRC is nice, but it can also be a royal pain unless you control the network. People take other people's names, the banning doesn't work perfectly, etc. Something like this Shockwave chat might be a much better improvement, and while I'd very much like to see things like

* michael and changing text colors and such, those are extras that I can wait on.

well, i havent touched the chat since omario is workin on the IRC chat......

i will finish eventually.....

well, its finished, just not packaged....

theres quite a bit that I dont know how to do yet like add to tables in SQL and trigger them from the admin area etc....so its either installed and on, or uninstalled and off......

no selection if you want to allow members only etc....

its already used on a few of my sites but it wasnt installed with a MOD..... i will have to make that later...
