Adding Fields to the Registration Page!

Hi All,
Have been racking my brains now for quite a while and cant quite figure this one out.
I would like to add 4 or 5 new fields to the registration page to collect further information about the people using the forums. I have added new fields to the dbase, to the register.php and have made changes to the insert statement but for some reason the register.php keeps returning an error when i try to register. Is there something im missing?
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
p.s Using Latest Version downloaded yesterday!
