I just discovered this thx to a friend!!

you can use static Flash images instead of GIFs and they'll be a lot lighter :D

here's a test I did with a picture:

the first one is the .gif one and weights 6.05K and the second one is the .swf one and weights 1.90K!!  :o

this is very logical because of the nature of Flash, but I hadn't thought of it before :P

I may just do a .swf version of all my .gif images and save me lots of bandwidth!!  ;D

I couldn't wait to share this with you guys :D

Keep in mind that many folks use flash stripping browser add-ons...  Most ads are flash anymore, so it makes it easy to just strip flash or make flash optional than to keep track of all the ad host domains.

I guess there could be a script to detect if Flash is enabled or not...

or make it an option to view the Flash or GIF version of graphics like you said, like when there's a default language and you can choose an optional one

I didn't know about Flash filters, only about pop-up stoppers

I *hate* Flash.  I run Mozilla Firebird, but I know the flash filter works on Mozilla as well, and I know IE has one floating around for it too.
