If you've seen the new MSN Messenger 6.0 you'll notice that in the message windows the scroll bar has lines in the middle of the thing that moves up and down. How can I do that with the scroll bar on my site?

If you are talking about the scroll bar that comes with windows XP, it is controlled through the windows xp theme .. if any one borrows your site using win xp they will see it by default unless you alter it then it will lose its look.

there's no css properties/attributes for scrollbar image/background image, you can only change the colors
as AMA said, the scrollbar look/shape will depend on your browser/os

It could be done with javascript...
http://www.jsmadeeasy.com/javascripts/Advanced/scrollzoom/scrollzoom.htm this not quite it but does show javascript can make difrent scroll bars.

Try to search google you might find what you are seeking for.

would something to the affect of:
face-color: background-image("images/imagename.gif")
work?
