OK.

I think I have worked out how to do this - but I came up with an idea. I was thinking that when the user has a warning that they lose their stars (whilst the warning is in action). That way I can position the warning image where the stars are. Basically the image needs to be around 15x15 pixels and then will have a little bit of text after it in the relevant colour saying "warned" (or otherwise).

Would this be OK? (This is for all subsequent posts by user and NOT the one that earns him the warning - that post shall have a big warning sign under it!)

That sounds fine to me.
I would prefer to not have the stars removed, but an extra icon (only yellow or red as the green would be just a warning) shown in the bit where the stars are.

I like the idea of having the warning text placed only on the offending post.. great!(as in your own forum)

Would the yellow (mute) warning be controllable, ie, how long the warning stays?

I really appreciate the time you have put into this Grudge, I have tried to offend you in your forum :)
If you want to warn me (green first) and see if i can get around it. then maybe onto yellow.

P.S. Sorry i keep going on about colours but it is relevant on my forum. Colours go in this order:
yellow = warning (1st step)
green = Mute style warning (2nd step)
Red = final warning (Barred) 3rd step

TY :)

GWP - you can define the colours yourself in the modsettings - don't worry about whatever colours I have it set to at the moment!!

Anyway - please check my forums for the link to the beat so you can check it before I put it open for anyone else who may wish to use it!

Also - there is NO time limit on how long any warning lasts. Instead there is a listing of all users with warnings. The admin can just check this regularly and decide who he wants to reduce the warning on (the list is sorted by time so it is easy to see who has been muted the longest). This allows the admin some flexiblity on who lang each user should be "punished". For example, you may want to mute some users for longer than others.

I guess a improvement would be to allow the admin etc to choose how long the warning will last but I haven't done that yet. This may be a future addition :D

OK. This was done pretty much off a clean install so I'll have to let you find your own errors I'm afraid :(

Use http://www.yoursite.com/yabbse/YabbImages etc etc

Basically - use the internet accessible path :D

I'll be going to bed soon so I may not be able to access your bug reports until tomorrow :|

Hi Grudge
Very Very Nice! :)
I liked:
The admin section where you are able to view all users who have some state of warning in place and are able to reduce/modify all or some of them
The way you are able to set both text colors and images via admin.php
The abilty to state why they have been given a warning in that post.

Just a few questions about this sytem.
(I will email you my updated mod for supermod users tomorrow)

1. It maybe isn't that clear on what level to set when you go to warn a member, I didn't know what to put into the box, so started with a "1", then did a "2".

2. Once the user has been given a level 2, (Mute), are they muted or do we have to do this ourselves?

3. Same as above but for Banning

4. How is a user banned, by IP address or username?

5. Is there any indication on their current warning level available in their info box (the one about me on the left of this post)

6. Once you have warned a user about their post, then remove their warning, does the warning stay in the original post.

7. Are the users able to midify that post once a warning has been given?

Just another point, I found that the best path to the images is obtained by typing the exact URL to the images minus the base URL eg:
Full URL would be http://www.yabbse.co.uk/forum/YaBBImages/image.gif
then type into the box:
/forum/YaBBimages/image.gif

Other than that a great mod, I am not sure what the proceedure is to move it to Completed Mods, but it deserves it :)

Yea sorry - should have made that clearer - 1 is first warning level, 2 is mute, 3 is ban (0 is no warning)

3. Same as above but for Banning
Yes and yes.

Quote4. How is a user banned, by IP address or username?
By username. I can change this to be IP as well if you wish?

Quote5. Is there any indication on their current warning level available in their info box (the one about me on the left of this post)
If you mean the info box where the stars are (to the left of the post) you should see the little image for that warning level with the text saying "Warned". This will be there for any level of warning (literally underneath the stars)

Quote6. Once you have warned a user about their post, then remove their warning, does the warning stay in the original post.
Yes (the one you typed). However, this CAN be edited out the by the member now if they are *that* bothered by it

Quote. Are the users able to midify that post once a warning has been given?
Basically - the LAST post where the user got warned at is locked form them to modify that warning. Once the warning is removed / a new warning for them is given the lock is removed. Basically it keeps your last warning in tact.

QuoteOther than that a great mod, I am not sure what the proceedure is to move it to Completed Mods, but it deserves it :)
Once I am happy that it is *workable* I'll post a new topic there linking here too.

I'm glad you're happy with it. I am off to bed now but tomorrow I'll just fix up a few things to make it a little clearer to use (just a few instructions etc) and fix any bugs you may find over night! Laters!

TY
I will have a good look through it tomorrow and let you know of any further bugs etc (I didn't find any bugs, just some coding differences with my version)

I hope someone else will install this mod on a non-supermod version and let Grudge know how it went.

Is this your first mod, if so...

Congratulations :)

TY. I'll just wait to see if any bugs pop up now.

As for being my first mod it isn't really my first mod. I have lots of big custom mods on my board but it's probably the first big public one I have done... I'm really beginning to love PHP!

Sadly my code isn't always that efficient as I don't know how to do the complicated mySQL commands but alas I am learning and I'm sure the page load times arn't traumatically affected by it :D

Grudge
I feel it is inappropiate to post problems with this mod and my board here, as I use supermod.
I do-not want to confuse others.

I hope someone will install this mod and let you know its effects on their YaBBse 1.5x board.

However, I have posted some small problems with my board on your own board. I hope you will be able to help.
Regards
