What is the reason for a guestbook on a forum?  Can't you just start a thread or something?

Never really thought about a guestbook, like [Unknown] said, start a thread. (hey that rhymes). But php chats are spawn of the devil. Using a php chat is like making Slash play with a plastic guitar from Sears. Check this out

much much better. :)

Another option you may want to consider if you'd like users just to post quick comments is the shoutbox mod. It might fit your needs. http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?board=158;action=display;threadid=22454

Well, that shoutbox I pointed to you *can* be used on your main site- it has ssi support. And it does work with your database, but only in that it creates a table automatically for you, so you really don't have to mess with anything. Not sure why you would prefer a flat file system over a database one, especially since you already have your yabbse database all running. (I'm assuming) and you'll need something to process it anyhow, whether it be written in php, perl, java, ect.

Otherwise, if you really don't want to do those things, do a search on google for guestbook and you'll be provided with a slew of links to sites that offer free hosted guestbooks that can be used on your site.

im being tempted into a shoutbox. Erm i was just wondering ive seen some shoutboxes running on the main index board, thats something im not too keen on. i was wondering whether it was possible to almost create at shoutbox that ran on totally new page? still running from the same yabbse database, but can be accessible to guest and members?

hmm i know its quite alot to ask, but if its is possible then that would just be the greatest things since fried chicken
