I just have a small opinion question. Should avatar size be limited using the boards width height limit option? And if so, what is a generally good size to limit them to? I'm just curious because I'm sure huge avatars eat up bandwidth (right?) and some people have gotten into the habit of choosing those kinds. :)

First of all, please understand that the width and height limits for avatars only affect the avatars' *physical* size and not their *file* size.

Secondly, if the avatars are hosted on your own site, you already have complete control over their width, height and file size because you uploaded them.

Size limiting is therefore mainly a method of preventing physically oversized avatars from taking up too much of your board space, since it's only your download times and not your data transfer allowance that will suffer from excessive KB in remotely hosted avatars.

That said, it's largely a matter of personal taste how much you allow. I have one board where they're limited to 100x100px and another where they're limited to 72x72px and I'm quite happy with both!

Righto.
Thanks for the opinion. As I just found an avatar almost as big as my browser, I think I'll be turning this on. :)

Thanks,
