An interesting code tag....

What about something like.... [remote]...

For example,
[remote]http://whatever.com/whereever/mysig.bbc[/remote]

And, it would work like this:

'~\[remote\](.+?)\[/remote\]~ie'
And...
'doUBBC(implode(\'\', file(\'\\1\')))'

So, mysig.bbc could contain:
QuoteMy Signature!
[ img ] blah blah [/img]
etc etc etc

Sound like a good thought?

Of course, it would be best to check the host, see if it was accessable... make sure everything was okay first.  (so, it would be a little more than just that....)

Wouldn't it be better to just leave it in the database and just change it whenever you wanted to? This way people could change your sig if you had server security problems. If it was just an option, I suppose it doesn't matter, but I don't know if anyone would use it. :P

It was an example.  The tag would allow for linking to prewritten bbc.

This way, you could... for example, use that for your sig on all the 2409384 orums you go to, and update just that file to update all of them.

It's just an idea, of course.... but isn't that what this boards for?

I never thought of it that way. I guess probably because I only really dedicate myself to one or two boards at once, and don't use sigs. ::)

administrators would love that option because it decreases db size in some instances. Although, they might have problems with jerks that make their sig length really long.

Yes.... you could just say:

substr(implode(file()), 0, size) // you get the gist.

But, there's still more to deal with...
