automated adult only category access

I looked around and couldn't find anything... wondering if a mod has been done or sounds interesting for someone to do in the effect of adult categories.

For example in a public free for all forum, to defer the nude pic postings from the public access area, have an adult category that can only be viewed by people that elected to view it. This is simple enough to do... however would it be difficult to allow auto access to this area rather than having a gmod or admin change your access level in profile? I.E. user requests access to adult area, reads a disclaimer and agrees and has auto access to adult categories. At the same time, that users avatar would be blocked from view in public access categories since he/she will probably have an adult oriented avatar. Could a mod like this be done easy enough?

I'm thinking this would lighten the load on moderators in cleaning up those occasional nude pics or whatever posts that you dont want in the public access area.

So what happens when a 13-year old reads the disclaimer, hits I agree, and gets access to your adult areas?

Same thing that happens when a 13 yr old posts porn in the general access area, or same thing that happens when a 13 yr old clicks "I'm an adult" to look at yahoo's adult profiles.

I'm looking for a way to lighten the burden on moderators in cleaning the trash and banning out of the public areas... was thinking something like this would defer those who wish to post smut to a secluded section of the board, thus deferring that unwanted stuff from the public boards, granted there will still be occasional jackyls, but I think it would lighten the moderators duties. Has anyone else had problem porn posters figured out ways around this other than just moderating?

The problem is... if you make it that easy for folks to get access to the adult area, you've just made that so-called adult area into a public area anyway.

While I would never allow adult posts of any kind on any of my sites, I recommend you separate the two areas (public and adult) into two separate sites instead of trying to keep them together like that.

And if Yahoo lets minors into their adult area that easily, shame on them!

well... you see, I don't think he really cares for an adult area, he just wants it as a place where his porn posters can post without others having to see it unless they agree to it

Thats exactly right Anguz, I dont really care to have an adult area... but if that helps keep the general access areas cleaner and have a less burden on moderator staff..... I'm just brainstorming
