Is there a mod in which a board could be used for journal only threads where only the topic starter could reply to the thread and only one thread can be made in the board per user?

The rest of the forum would be normal though.

That's the idea.  It's supposed to be a thread where people can make update threads without them being clogged up with replies.

the commenting system can be done like in b2, using a pop-up window

Rather than make another thread, I would really like this mod.  It would help the type of forum I'm running.

Spaceman, just mod it so that a user can lock the threads that they start immediately after posting in specified boards.

I think that would be the simplest way.

Question, would it be simple to make all locked topics still open to post starter, GMs, Moderators, and Admins?

spaceman: Then you at the top of the log for that day, you could have it say "comments (x)" and a "comment" button might do it.. or make the comments part a link.

that is a lot of work for something that can be accomplished by making one person the only person who can post on that board (see reporter mod). Then comments would just be posts.

Is it possible to make only one thread on the board per person?

So the journal board number basically had the following rules on my old forums.

Only one thread per member.
Only members can write in the thread (I don't know how the comments would work though, maybe like livejournal?)
If a member tries to start another journal, they get a message that says something like 'I'm sorry you have already opened a journal on this board'?
