Would it be possible for the wonderful developers to actually add in the ability to change a log-in name via the Member Management utility?  The reason I ask this is because occasionally members will typo on their names for log in purposes and the Admins can then go in and change the log in name themselves via the Member Management utility, rather than having to go through and physically change it via MySQL or deleting the first account and having the member sign up for a second account.

In all honesty, the Admins should have the ability to change both the Log in name and the Display name, IMHO.  Thanks for at least considering this.

deleting a member can be done via editing a user's profile
no need to go to the database and do it manually...

it would be hard in YSE 1.4.1 to change one's username, because many records will need to be changed too, like log_topics, messages, log_boards, IMs, etc
but it should be a bit easier in 1.5.1, since ID_MEMBER is used more than memberName for foreign keys (havent really checked all the tables... )

Please tell me that you're actually in the process of converting everything over to ID_MEMBER.  I made that mistake with one customer, and when I launched my site as a replacement site, I switched it over and made it use userid, rather than username for everything.  Trust me, it's been my biggest blessing, lol!

1.5.1 should have switched some things to to using the member ID but Unknown has been working hard on doing the rest.

The databases schema for trinity will be fully normalised, so there will be no problems with changing multiple values.

Fantastic!  So we WILL be able to change both the log in and display names on Trinity?  Wonderful news, indeed!

I said the database will be normalised, not that we would have the feature! We shall see...  If it isn't included then it won't be difficult to include it in the future

This is a most excellent suggestion - I generally try to keep the same alias name throughout all the communities I am a member of - some in early days I used more than one alias name. Being able to change the member profile to accomodate the same member name would be a blessing. I've stopped participating in some online communities precisely because I forgot the original user name.
