Does YaBBSE use less bandwidth than YaBB SP1?  It may be come an issue for me, and I'd like to know if YaBBSE cuts down on bandwidth usage.

Yes, it uses A LOT less bandwidth.  Part of the reason is that you can gzip the output of your pages - rather than sending plain text.

Great!  How hard is it to convert an SP1.2 board to SE?

It should be enabled by default - and it's in the Mod Settings and Options of the Admin Center.

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure - you should make a post in the converter help board.  I'd move this topic, but it would be misleading :P

??? Are you sure? All the installations I've used never had a problem.

Perhaps it's a free-host issue?

I think he just means the hosts don't add compression by default to the apache or php config.

My mind was drifting.. I meant zlib output compression.. all the hosts I have used in the past have this off  ???

zlib
ZLib Support  enabled
Compiled Version  1.1.3
Linked Version  1.1.3

zlib.output_compression Off
zlib.output_compression_level -1
zlib.output_handler no value

Cananyone recommend web hosts that have zlib on?  I'mlooking for someone that provides high bandwidth, like over 30gb at at leas and good service.

Also, will most hosts turn it on for you. I have Apollo Hosting and I'll bet they sure would not.

http://powerfulhost.com/

Tell them Tenkoy sent you. :)

I'm not part of the company, just a very satisfied customer.

I've had hardly any downtime.
Support has been great.
Speed is great.
And plenty of space for anything you need.

And yes, compression is enabled by default.
