Hey 9ford,
Check that your telling the converter program the right place to look right at the beginning of the conversion process.  Don't just accept the default values that the converter gives you.  Make sure you set that right.  Usually I find most problems with any programing process are the omission of something simple.  I had a similar problem when I converted my board.  My problem was just one misplaced apostraphe (,) !  Good Luck.

Hi all,

I've got a YaBB 1 Gold - SP 1.1 board with the attachment mod installed. Will this converter handle any attachments since YaBBSE has attachment support by default.

If not, any tips to do this manual?

I ran the converter to convert my Yabb Gold SP1.1 to Yabbse 1.5.2. The conversion process ran without errors. Everything looks like it worked, but I ended up with a couple of problems.

1) I'm missing some posts and some people are missing messages.

2) Some posts are showing up as guest posts when they were originally posted by registered users. The registered users are showing up in the new members list.

3) Searches aren't returning results. I read in another post that you needed to re-index to get this working. I have phpmyadmin running, can someone explain how to re-index?

Ok I narrowed down the problem of posts showing up as guest posts when in fact they are posts by registered users.

I looked at the messages table in my database and I can see the problem posts have a -1 im the ID_MEMBER colum instead of the users actual member ID.

I could fix the problem if I just knew a little sql command language.

I basically need a query that would find all messages where ID_MEMBER = -1 and posterName = (whatever I want to use). Then for all the records found by that query, I would want to replace all -1 ID_MEMBER with the users real memeber ID (I can look this up in the members table)

Any help would be great

Hi, I just converted my board to YaBB SE. Everything seems to have been converted right but there are some problems. I had 55 members in my boards, now it shows only 1 (admin) but I can still see the others members profiles. The other problem is that my passwords dont work, I cant login into my forum.

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks in advance.

PS: Sorry for my bad english

ok... i tried this converter with a 1.3.1 board to a 1.5.3 yabb se.. the yabb se was a fresh install... it went through saying everything was successful.

however when i go to access the  yabb se board..

i get this error

Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

well in the converter ...my localhost is an ip addy  19......

so i entered the right info... yet.. it wrote to look for the local host..

any ideas ?

I have a question about this converter... I realize that there are more serious issues being discussed but any suggestions would be appreciated.

After running the YaBB 1G - SE 1.5.1 converter, everything transitioned without a single error - so I salute the hard-working coders that pulled off that huge task. Because of reasons beyond YaBB SE, I would like to know how to keep the "Threads" or "Topics" from being numbered in reverse order when they convert over to YaBB SE. For example, in YaBB 1G, my Topics (not to be confused with posts) are numbered sequencially, as I'm sure are all others, with the most recent Topics having the highest "Topic ID Numbers".

When I use the converter, the topics all get re-numbered in the reverse order, with the most recent topics having the lowest ID Number. Then, as new topics are created <AFTER> the conversion, they are numbered in Ascending order, starting after the highest prvious Topic ID. Let's say my topic ID's from YaBB 1 G are numbered from 1-9000, with #9000 being the most recent. After the conversion, the most recent topic (which was previously #9000) is now topic #1, and the oldest topic is #9000. But when the next new topic is created it is numbered 9001, then 9002, etc. This prevents a linear numbering order, which makes it difficult for what I'm trying to develop.

Is there any way to tweak the converter a bit so that the topic numbering order is preserved when the topics are converted?

The "Message Post" sorting is perfect - done by date, and there are no problems. But the Topic ID numbers start high, work their way down to 1, then resume high again.

Thanks in advance.
