Hi,

Although I looked around for about an hour in this forum, I didn't find a answer to this (of I am blind).

I am trying to move my Forum at www.a7vtroubleshooting.com

(Total Members: 4215
Total Posts: 36014
Total Topics: 7207)

from YaBB SP1 to YaBB SE 1.5.0 using the converter script.

Everything seem to work OK, but Step4 (Members) stops after a few seconds, with a few hundred members listed as converted.

Here is what I see:

http://www.a7vtroubleshooting.com/converter_step_4.htm

During conversion, the progress bar in the browser slowly progresses to about a third, then it jumps to full. In the moment it jumps to full the above page is displayed.

I have several guesses at what could be the problem:

1) My host (www.puretec.de) terminates scripts after 6 seconds of server time usage, or if more than 10MB RAM re used. But if it is terminated because of such an error, there would be a error displayed...

2) too many members

I already tried some fixes myself, for example reprogramming converter.php to skip step 4 and go straight to the conversion of boards and messages and so on. This works OK, too ... but only converts a few messages.

here's my YaBB SP1 Forum: http://www.a7vtroubleshooting.com/forum/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl

And here I try to install the YaBB SE: http://www.a7vtroubleshooting.com/forum/yabbse/

If 1) is the fault, would it help to download everything and try converting the forum locally? If so, is there a guide somewhere on how to convert on my own W2K PC?

Thanks for any assistance you may have to offer ...

Well, with a WAMPP installation I could locally convert the data base ... without errors, but with a few "Notices" though. Mostly this seemed to refer to string conversions with empty arguments while converting the birth date.

Also the sticky posts are not sticky any more...

Now I'm up to the task of uploading the local database to the server ... let's see if I can remember my SQL lessons at shool :)

Okay... here are some choices:

1. Copy the files into the data directory.  Not reccomended for corss platforms.

2. Dump it into an autmoated SQL script. (mysqldump -opt -databases yabbse > backup.sql)  Then upload that to the server, and....

2a. Use phpMyAdmin to run the file. (I can't explain the proccess as I've never used phpMyAdmin)

2b. Run mysql's command line client and type \. \path\to\backup.sql (I believe that's where 'slashdot' got it's name)
